Greater Sudbury Police arrested and charged a 27-year-old man in connection to a pair of pharmacy robberies on Long Lake Road.

On Sunday, March 18 at around 4:15 p.m. a man with the hood of his sweatshirt over his head entered a pharmacy on Long Lake Road and approached the prescription medication counter.

The man asked the employee at the counter for prescription medication that falls under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. The man stated that he had a weapon and demanded to have the pills right away. The employee gave him the pills and he left the pharmacy on foot.

The employee immediately called the police, who arrived on scene a short time later. The employee provided a description of the man to officers.

The Break Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit of the Integrated Crime Team took over the investigation.

On Tuesday, March 20, at around around 6:30 p.m. a man was seen outside of the same pharmacy. The man covered his face and entered the establishment. He approached the counter and asked for the same type of prescription medication. The employee at the counter immediately stated they were calling 911. The man left the pharmacy on foot.

Offices arrived minutes later and the employee provided a description of the man to officers. Through the investigation done by the BEAR Unit it was determined that it was the same man that had entered the pharmacy on both occasions.

On Wednesday, March 21, at around 3:45 p.m. members of the BEAR and Intelligence Units located and arrested a 27-year old man on Paris Street in Sudbury.

He has been charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery with a Weapon (two counts)
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (four counts)

The man was held overnight and attended Bail Court on Thursday, March 22.
