A fatal collision between a train and a pedestrian claimed the life of a young man from Chelmsford yesterday.

At around 1:30 am on Wednesday morning, the young man was walking along the railroad tracks west of Montpellier Road in Chelmsford when he was struck and killed by an eastbound freight train.
His family positively identified the victim but requested his identity be withheld.
Police are continuing to look for witnesses to the accident and request anyone with information contact them at the Traffic Management Unit at 675-9171, ext. 2633.
