Chelmsford woman charged in Hwy. 17 crash near Walford

A Chelmsford woman whose licence was already suspended now faces careless driving charges after being involved in a two-car collision.

On Jan. 15 at around 7:30 p.m. members of the Espanola OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17, Salter Township, east of the town of Walford.

A pickup truck travelling westbound had crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming eastbound passenger car.

Investigation revealed that the female driver of the pickup truck was driving while under suspension.

The female driver and female passenger of the car were transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with non-life threatening injuries.

A 32-year-old woman from Chelmsford was charged with careless driving and driving while under suspension.

The accused is due to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola Feb. 11.
