A single-vehicle collision on Belisle Drive in Val Caron shortly before midnight last night was fatal, Greater Sudbury Police confirmed via Twitter Wednesday morning.

A 42-year-old man, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries on scene. His name will not be released, as per the family's wishes. "Our condolences to those affected," said the police service.

The road was closed for six hours after the collision.

Belisle Drive in Val Caron was closed between White Road and Main Street for about five hours overnight due to a collision.

Greater Sudbury Police announced the road closure on Twitter at 12:30 a.m., and said it was reopened at 5:40 a.m.
