Big Nickel Mine Road was reopened on Wednesday night, said a tweet from Greater Sudbury Police.

Updated April 12 at 2:21 p.m.: A woman is in hospital and a man is in custody following a crash on Big Nickel Mine Road this afternoon.

Greater Sudbury Police were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision near the Elm Street ramp at around 1:30 p.m. today.

Police said the crash sent a 74-year-old woman to hospital with serious injuries. While the 37-year-old male driver of the other vehicle was arrested at the scene for impaired driving and driving while suspended. 

The roadway remains closed at this time.

Original story: Big Nickel Mine Road is completely blocked in both directions after a collision close to the Elm Street ramps, Greater Sudbury Police reported in a tweet at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The extent of injuries is unknown. Police ask people to find an alternate route. No further information is currently available.
