Update:

It was a single motor collision that closed Hwy. 144 between Cartier and the Watershed on Jan. 19 when a large commercial vehicle jackknifed on the highway and collided into a rock cut, blocking traffic in both directions.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision and the driver will not be charged, said the OPP.

The highway was closed for approximately six hours, between the 10:31 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., as two heavy tow trucks were required to remove the commercial vehicle.

Hwy. 144 is now fully open.

Highway 144 between Cartier and Highway 560 (the Watershed) is now reopened after a collision.

The road closure was first reported at 11:23 a.m. The reopening time is unknown at this time.
