Commercial driver charged for impaired on Hwy 69

Brampton driver facing several impaired-related charges

Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police have charged a commercial driver with several impaired-related charges after a Sept. 6 incident on Highway 69.

At 1:30 a.m. that morning, officers were dispatched to a single commercial motor vehicle collision on Highway 69 within the limits of Greater Sudbury.

“No person had been injured and while police were speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage,” police allege.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the Sudbury OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, the 49-year-old driver from Brampton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 4 in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
