Commercial driver faces impaired charge following complaint

A driver of a commercial motor vehicle has been charged with impaired driving after being pulled over on Nepewassi Lake Road Wednesday.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Sept. 20, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to an impaired driving complaint, involving a commercial motor vehicle on Nepewassi Lake Road, Markstay-Warren.

The vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the Nipissing West OPP detachment for further testing.

The 66-year-old Markstay-Warren man was charged with operation while impaired (drugs and alcohol), operation while impaired (blood alcohol conentration 80 plus) and dangerous driving.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Sudbury court Oct. 11.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
