UPDATE: The North East OPP tweeted around 9:30 p.m. that Highway 17 between McKerrow and Nairn Centre has reopened.
Manitoulin OPP tweeted around 3:30 p.m. that a collision had occurred in the area of the Spanish River Bridge. The highway was closed for around six hours as police investigated.
While the roadway has reopened, police have not released any new information on the nature of the crash.

OPP North East Region tweeted Sunday afternoon that a crash has closed Highway 17 at Sand Bay Road.
Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police is currently at the scene.
The tweet also states that no detour is available and the road will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
