Updated: Hwy. 69 reopened after tractor-trailer crash

Highway 69/400 is now reopened after having been closed most of the day due to a collision north of Parry Sound.

The OPP said in a press release that emergency services responded to a single-vehicle tractor-trailer crash at 8:15 a.m. Aug. 12.

The driver, a 51-year-old man from Etobicoke, lost control of the tractor trailer he was driving and struck the jersey barrier where Highway 69 meets Highway 400 in the north bound lanes. The vehicle caught fire and the highway was subsequently closed. The driver was taken to hospital by air ORNGE with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver was charged with careless Driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act

The highway is now open.

A collision has closed Highway 69 in both directions at Dinner Lake, located in between Pointe Au Baril and Parry Sound.

The closure was reported by the MTO at 8:30 a.m.
