Crash leads to impaired charge for Garson driver

Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police charged a Garson driver with impaired following a single-vehicle crash on Sept. 28.

Shortly after 11 a.m. that morning, Nipissing West OPP officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in the City of Greater Sudbury.

The lone driver was transported to Health Sciences North by Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the 48-year-old driver from Garson was arrested and charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 22, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The westbound lane was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation.
