One driver was charged for impaired and another was found to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Day 16 of the Festive RIDE campaign, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Police checked 241 drivers on Dec. 19 and made four demands for breath samples. In addition to the impaired charges, police doled out 13 Highway Traffic Act infractions.

On the previous night, Police handed out one three-day licence suspension to a driver for being in the warning range on Dec. 18, which marked Day 15 of the Festive RIDE campaign, but no one was charged with impaired driving, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers checked 307 drivers in Capreol, Hanmer and Val Caron. A total of 13 Highway Traffic Act offences were handed out.

The Festive RIDE campaign continues every day for the month of December, when police will set up spot checks at undisclosed locations.
