A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 69, south of Britt, Monday morning injured eight people. Six people were sent to St. Josephs Hospital in the city while two others were airlifted to Toronto with serious injuries, including a young child.
The accident occurred when a northbound vehicle crossed the centre line, sideswiped a southbound vehicle, hit another southbound minivan head on before sideswiping a third vehicle.
The highway was reduced to one lane for about two hours. No names have been released and the collision is still under investigation.
This notorious stretch of highway has been under media and political scrutiny for months following a series of deadly accidents this summer. Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci is calling on the Eves government to four-lane the highway.
