No concern for public safety, police say, as suspects known to victims

Three people were assaulted in an incident that closed Morin Street early Monday morning.

Greater Sudbury Police were notified at 4:18 a.m. Nov. 13, receiving a call from the victims, who said they'd been assaulted at a residence on Morin Street.

Police learned upon arrival of a third victim whose whereabouts were unknown, but the two other victims said the person might have still been inside the residence. 

Members of Greater Sudbury Police's patrol operations and tactical unit responded, and a third victim was located inside the residence.

The whereabouts of the suspects, however, remain unknown.

All three victims were treated for minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, and officers remain on scene.

The suspects are known to the victims, and there is no concern for public safety, say police.

Morin Street is now open to traffic, said Greater Sudbury Police on Twitter at 7:48 a.m.

No further details were issued, but police say a media release will be coming.

Greater Sudbury Police say Mabel Street is closed between Morin and Melvin streets this morning due to an ongoing police incident.

In a tweet issued at 5:47 a.m., police asked that people avoid the area.
