A Chelmsford man was lucky he wasn?t seriously injured after his motor vehicle failed to negotiate a railway crossing at MacKenzie Street in Chelmsford Sunday afternoon. The vehicle became lodged on railway tracks with an oncoming train approaching.

The vehicle became lodged on railway tracks with an oncoming train approaching.

The driver fled the scene on foot before the train struck the vehicle, avoiding injury. The man?s vehicle was destroyed.

The driver was located by Greater Sudbury police. He has been charged with impaired driving and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
