A driver is facing charges after being caught on a closed highway in the area last week.

On April 11, at around 3:40 p.m. the Sudbury OPP Traffic Incident Management Efficiency Team observed a vehicle traveling on a closed road, Highway 537, in Greater Sudbury.

As it often is, the highway is closed for public safety due to heavy flooding in the area.

The driver was charged with Drive on Closed Highway.

The top priority for the OPP and other agencies involved is to ensure public safety, said a press release. The OPP is reminding motorists not to travel on closed highways.
