Greater Sudbury Police charged a driver for travelling at 153 kilometres an hour in a posted 60 km/h zone.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
The driver will appear in court to answer to the charges. Upon conviction, they will receive a $2,000 to $10,000 fine, six demerit points, licence suspension of up to two years and up to six months in jail.
In 2018, approximately 23 per cent of fatal crashes involved speeding, according to the International Transport Forum Road Safety Data.
