Driver facing drug charges after driving into a ditch

A 21-year-old woman from West Nipissing is facing drug and impaired driving charges after she drove her car into a ditch in Sturgeon Falls on Aug. 9. (File)

On Aug. 9, at approximately 4:50 a.m., members of the West Nipissing Detachment of the OPP received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Leblanc Road in Sturgeon Falls. 

Officers attended the scene and located the uninjured driver and lone occupant of the vehicle. 

As a result of police investigation, a 21-year-old woman from West Nipissing, has been charged with the following:

Operation While Impaired - Drugs
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance - Heroin
 
The accused was issued a 90-day automatic driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.   

The accused has been released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 5 in Sturgeon Falls.
