A Val Caron man charged with driving offences in an accident that killed one Valley teenager and seriously injured another teen 13 months ago has been fined $1,500.
Mitchell McHugh, 20, pleaded guilty Thursday to careless driving and consuming alcohol while driving a G2 licence, which provincial law states doesn?t allow any alcohol consumption.
McHugh?s driver?s licence was also suspended for 12 months.
McHugh was charged in the death of Andrew Jesse Chaput, 16, and serious injury to Candice Kirkbride, then 15, who were hit by a car on Deschenes Road in Val Therese following a house party on the same road March 11, 2001.
Barnard Woodbury, who hosted the party which police estimate was attended by as many as 400 people, was found guilty last August of illegally selling liquor and selling alcohol to minors. He received 30 days in jail.
The families of Chaput and Kirkbride launched civil lawsuits last year.
