Driver pulls u-turn to avoid spot check

A driver pulled a u-turn to avoid a downtown Sudbury spot check during the evening of Nov. 9, and drove the wrong way down a one-way street. The incident occurred during RIDE impaired driving spot checks conducted by Greater Sudbury Police.

The incident occurred during RIDE impaired driving spot checks conducted by Greater Sudbury Police. The spot checks were set up at the intersection of Brady and Cedar, as well as at Falconbridge Road and Big Nickel Mine Road.

The spot checks also turned up two drivers under the influence of a controlled substance. Three drivers were also found to have committed moving violations.

In total, 656 drivers were checked, and three were asked to provide breath samples.
