Driver wanted for fleeing Mattawa Marina, damaging one police cruiser

A driver wanted by police could possibly be heading in the direction of Sudbury, following an incident at the marina in Mattawa. 

On June 5 around 4 a.m., members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol when they came across an SUV parked at the marina. 

Officers attempted to engage the driver, at which point the suspect attempted to flee the scene, striking an OPP cruiser with his vehicle in the process, before heading eastbound on Highway 17, as stated in a press release issued later that evening.

The suspect is described as being a white male between 35 and 45-years-old, approximately 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, 130-pounds, with red hair, brown eyes, and a scar on the palm of his left hand. 

He was operating a 2002 red Chevrolet, Blazer with Alberta marker CGD4615 at the time of the incident, which will now have damage to the driver's side and a broken driver's side window. 

Any member of the public who sees this person or vehicle is asked not to approach and call 9-1-1 immediately. 

Those with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police department.
