Drug dealers from Southern Ontario nabbed on Notre Dame: GSPS

Sudbury police turn up illicit drugs, loaded handgun in April 23 traffic stop; local man also facing charges after subsequent search of Brady Street home

Detectives located and seized a loaded handgun, approximately 180 grams of Cocaine, 56 grams of Fentanyl, 35 – 8mg Hydromorphone pills, a replica handgun and $8,900 in cash after stopping suspects on Notre Dame Avenue April 24. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $24,000.

Two men from Southern Ontario are facing drug and firearms charges after being pulled over on Notre Dame Avenue April 23, and a subsequent search warrant at a Brady Street home resulted in the arrest of a Sudbury man.

Based on the results of a drug trafficking investigation, Greater Sudbury Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Notre Dame Avenue April 23 and arrested two individuals, both from Southern Ontario.

After a search of the suspects and the vehicle, detectives located and seized a loaded handgun, approximately 180 grams of Cocaine, 56 grams of Fentanyl, 35 – 8mg Hydromorphone pills, a replica handgun and $8,900 in cash. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $24,000.

A 35-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were charged with the following offences:

• Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

• Carry a concealed weapon.

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm.

• Possession of a restricted firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

• Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition.

• Firearm – Tampering with serial number.

• Firearm – Possession contrary to prohibition order x 2

• Driving while under suspension – Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

A subsequent search warrant was conducted at a residence on Brady Street resulting in the arrest of a third individual from Greater Sudbury.

The 26-year-old man was charged with the following offences:

• Fail to comply with release order.

• Ammunition - Possession contrary to prohibition order

All three individuals were held in police custody overnight and will attend court today, April 25, to answer to the charges.
