Video: Four people hospitalized after collision on Lasalle Monday

Police seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision

Four people were transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries following a three-vehicle collision on Lasalle Boulevard on Monday afternoon.* 

At approximately 1:35 p.m. on Jan. 28  there was a three-car collision on Lasalle Boulevard in front of the Montrose Mall in the eastbound lanes.

Four people were transported to hospital as a result of the collision. Vehicles involved were a silver Toyota Rav SUV, a silver Toyota Tacoma pick up and a Red Dodge Ram pickup.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time and have information about this collision.

In particular, police are seeking any witnesses that may have seen any erratic driving behavior prior to the accident. Contact police at 705-675-9171 with incident number 6653.

All lanes on Lasalle Boulevard have been reopened following three-vehicle collision this afternoon.

Updated: Jan. 28 at 3:55 p.m.

One westbound lane of Lasalle Boulevard has been opened, following a multi-vehicle collision this afternoon.

Officers are still at the scene of the collision and all other lanes remain closed in the area. Police are asking motorists to avoid using Lasalle Boulevard for the time being.

GSPS Traffic Unit is currently investigating the collision.

Greater Sudbury Police now report that Lasalle Boulevard is closed from Montrose Avenue to Rideau Street for an undetermined length of time. Traffic coming from Barrydowne Road will be rerouted onto Montrose Ave to Grandview. Traffic coming from Notre Dame Avenue will be rerouted on to Rideau Street to Lavoie Street to Montrose Avenue.

An officer is also on scene to assist parents/guardians picking up students from École Felix Ricard. Please indicate that you are picking up a student when you reach the officer on Rideau Street. "We would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience," police said.

The collision involved three vehicles, Greater Sudbury Police reported on Twitter at 2:12 p.m. "Paramedics have transported individuals requiring medical attention," said the tweet. "Unknown severity of injuries."

Greater Sudbury Police are on the scene of a collision on Lasalle Boulevard in front of Montrose Mall.

The extent of injuries are unknown at this time and Greater Sudbury Fire Services and EMS are en route to the scene of the collision.

Both lanes heading toward Barrydowne Road are closed at this time.

Police are asking motorists to slow down and drive with caution in the area, as well as leave room for emergency responders to access the collision scene.
