Greater Sudbury Police Service are advising drivers that Lasalle Boulevard will likely be closed for an extended period of time today following a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian this morning.

Officers are still on the scene of the crash, which occurred on Lasalle at Madeleine Avenue. A elderly pedestrian was transported to Health Sciences North for treatment after the crash.

GSPS expects the investigation today will be lengthy, and are advising drivers both lanes of Lasalle from Northway Avenue to Rideau Street, heading towards Notre Dame Avenue, will be closed until further notice today.

Traffic is being re-routed at Northway Avenue. Large trucks are unable to make the turn onto Northway Avenue, so transport drivers are being asked to use The Kingsway as an alternative route.
