Elm Street assault leads police to $135K drug seizure

The ongoing investigation into an assault on Elm Street on Dec. 11 led police to a major seizure of suspected fentanyl and cocaine

Greater Sudbury Police Service’s investigation into an assault on Elm Street on Dec. 11 led officers to the seizure of suspected cocaine and fentanyl with an estimated street value of $135,000.

The seizure stems from an incident at Elm and Eyre streets yesterday.

At 8 a.m. on Dec. 10, officers were dispatched to an assault in progress at Elm Street at Eyre Street. Two men were arrested after reports of multiple people involved in an altercation with reports of a knife and a gun involved, police state in a press release.

Another person, believed to be in possession of the gun, had entered a residential building on the corner of Elm and Eyre.

Officers set-up containment of the building and shut down Elm Street at multiple intersections to ensure public and officer safety. Officers assisted individuals not involved in the incident to evacuate the building and secured the residential unit where the involved persons were believed to be hiding.

Two people exited the unit and were taken into police custody.
