A 48-year-old Espanola man was killed in a car accident on Highway 17 W. Wednesday evening.
The accident, which killed Michael Terrance Gauthier, took place at about 5:20 pm.
The accident took place on the four-lane divided section of the highway, Gauthier, who was driving a 1998 Honda, failed to negotiate a curve and struck a rock face.
He was the lone occupant of the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was not wearing his seatbelt and died of multiple internal injuries.
The highway was closed for about two hours Wednesday evening. Ontario Provincial Police say road conditions were not a factor in the collision.
