Video: No injuries as firefighters battle Falconbridge Road blaze

Police ask people to avoid the area; road is closed at William St. in Garson due to structure fire

Updated 3:11 p.m.:

Falconbridge Road at William Street in Garson is closed while Greater Sudbury Fire Services responds to a structure fire.

Brian Morrison, acting deputy chief of Greater Sudbury Fire Services, told Sudbury.com's Keira Ferguson the call came in at 1:39 p.m. and crews from seven fire stations began arriving at 1:47 p.m.

"It's a stubborn fire," Morrison said.

The roof of building is giving them difficulty -- they have to remove sections before they can put the fire out, he said.

It appears no one was injured, since it was a vacant residence, Morrison said. Firefighters searched the area when they arrived and didn't find anyone.

"We will be doing a secondary search once the fire is under control," he said.

No damage estimate is available yet, Morrison said, and there is no damage to neighbouring homes
