A local woman who was part of a funeral procession was hit and killed in an accident late Thursday in Val Caron.
Around 10:30 am, a 1992 Pontiac was northbound in the left turn lane on Highway 69 North in Val Caron while part of the funeral procession. The vehicle turned left onto Main Street when a southbound Chevrolet truck travelling in the southbound centre lane collided with it.
The driver of the car was transported to St. Joseph?s Health Centre, where she succumbed to her injuries and was
pronounced dead.
The traffic management unit of the Greater Sudbury Police Service is continuing to investigate the incident.
The traffic unit is asking anyone who may have witnessed the tragic accident to come forward. Police are withholding the name of the persons involved pending the interviewing of witnesses and other family members.
