Fees for fingerprints and criminal record checks have gone up

To obtain a criminal record check or fingerprints, residents within the Sudbury OPP detachment area, the Municipality of French River, Warren and St. Charles may attend their nearest OPP detachment

The cost for an Ontario Provincial Police criminal record check, fingerprints and other items increased as of July 1.

The new fees (with Harmonized Sales Tax) are as follows:

Criminal Record, Police Record and Vulnerable Sector check (Employment): $41
Criminal Record, Police Record and Vulnerable Sector check (Volunteer): No charge
Fingerprints (LIVESCAN - on behalf of RCMP): $25
Fingerprints (OPP charge): $65

To obtain a criminal record check or fingerprints, residents within the Sudbury OPP detachment area, the Municipality of French River, Warren and St. Charles may attend their nearest OPP detachment.  

Residents of West Nipissing may attend either the Warren OPP Detachment or the North Bay OPP Detachment. If attending the Noëlville, Warren or Sudbury Detachment, the exact amount in cash is required. If attending the North Bay Detachment, only debit or credit will be accepted.

Two pieces of government identification are required including one with a photo. If the request is for a vulnerable sector records check or for volunteer work, a letter from the employer must be provided to police. 

A resident must attend in person with payment to initiate the process. A record check can take up to three weeks to be completed.

An appointment is required for fingerprints, and can made by calling your nearest OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
