East Algoma OPP have closed off Valley Crescent in Elliot Lake as they continue to deal with a disturbance at a residence in the area.

Officers responded to a report of a "disturbance" on Valley Crescent just before 6 a.m. Thursday morning and have secured the area to ensure public safety.

Little is known about the nature of the disturbance at this time, but officer say that there is a possibility that weapons are involved. It is unknown how many people are in the home.

Police are requesting that members of the public stay away from the area of Valley Crescent, Cedar Place, Balsam Place, and Hemlock Place for the time being. This is to ensure that police are able to carry out their duties safely and effectively.
