Five arrested in drug seizure

Five people were arrested Dec. 17 after police seized crack cocaine, marijuana and more than $3,000 in cash during a search warrant at an Antwerp Street home, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Five people were arrested Dec. 17 after police seized crack cocaine, marijuana and more than $3,000 in cash during a search warrant at an Antwerp Street home, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The suspects, ranging in age from 21 to 51, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. Police seized 13.3 grams of cocaine, 4.32 grams of marijuana, packaging material and a digital scale.

The total value of the drugs is estimated at $3,000.

Four of the suspects were released from custody and will appear in court on Jan. 16. One man, 22, faces additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of breach of probation.

Police are seeking a sixth suspect in the investigation, a 21-year-old man who is also being charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
