Four people are facing drug and weapons charges following a May 4 weapons complaint on Van Horne Street.
Greater Sudbury Police officers were dispatched to the area at around 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a a group of people had been seen in the area armed with what were believed to be firearms.
“Officers arrived in the area and located the individuals matching the descriptions provided,” GSPS reported. “Officers saw that one of the individuals appeared to be carrying a firearm. The four individuals were arrested without incident.”
A search of the four people following their arrests turned up three pellet guns with ammunition, brass knuckles, knives, 64 grams of suspected fentanyl, seven grams of suspected crack cocaine and close to two grams of suspected cocaine. GSPS said officers also located $1,395 in cash.
Of those arrested, a 48-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman are charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose peace or commit,
- Failure to comply with order,
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2
A 46-year-old woman is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose peace or commit
- Failure to comply with order
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2
- Possession of Firearm/Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order.
A 43-year-old man is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose peace or commit
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2
- Breach of Probation Order
- Possession of Firearm/Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order x2
GSPS did not provide a place of residence for the four people charged.
All four individuals were held in police custody overnight to attend bail court on May 5 to answer to the charges.
