The fraud unit of Greater Sudbury police has made an arrest following an investigation into altered Canada Post money orders.

Guy Jean Landry, 26, has been charged with seven counts of uttering a forged document and seven counts of fraud under $5,000.

The Sudbury man is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Police issued a warning to retailers after being alerted about fraudulent documents circulating in the area.

The money orders had been altered to reflect significantly increased sums.

Transactions added up to over $3,000 while the original amount of the combined money orders was $70. Purchases included jewelry, exercise equipment, food and cash.

More arrests are expected.
