The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) is in the process of investigating a robbery that took place at a gas station in the Southend early Sunday morning.

Between 3-4 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, an unknown suspect wearing dark clothing and a mask entered the Canadian Tire Gas Bar (2259 Regent St.) and brandished a weapon, demanding money from the on-duty clerk.

The suspect then fled the area on foot before police arrived, according to a press release. No injuries were sustained by the employee.

GSPS staff Sgt. Jack Sivazlian could not comment on whether anything was stolen, or what kind of weapon is suspected to have been shown.

Police have conducted a search of the area and will be continuing their investigation through the Break Enter and Robbery unit.

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact police 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.
