Safety is the last thing on children?s minds on Halloween. This isn?t a fact lost on the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The Sudbury Amateur Radio Club will be teaming up with the police to enhance the safety of children Halloween night, this Friday.

Amateur radio operators will be cruising the streets of neighbourhoods, watching for suspicious persons or situations.

Information gathered will be directly relayed by ham radio to the police communications centre, where an officer can be immediately dispatched to remedy any situation.

This will be the fifth year the organizations have teamed up to make Halloween a more enjoyable and safe experience for children and their parents.

Here are some tips for a safe and fun holiday:

- Motor vehicle operators are advised to exercise extreme caution - stay alert and slow down.

- Children are reminded to obey traffic rules.

- All participants are encouraged to wear reflective clothing and to carry a light.
