Updated March 28 12:58 p.m.: The Ontario Provincial Police ROPE (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) Squad has caught up with a 36-year-old inmate who has been on the run since March 18.

Ryan Hamelin was found and arrested in Barrie.

Original story

A federal inmate serving time for criminal harassment is on the run and may be headed from southern Ontario to Alberta.

The OPP’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad (or ROPE) is hoping the public can help locate a federal offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breach of his long-term supervision order.

Ryan Hamelin is serving a one-month, 29-day sentence for criminal harrassment.

The 36-year-old white male stands 5-8 (173 cms) and weighs 170 lbs (77 kgs). He has hazel eyes and brown hair.

Hamelin is recognizable for his numerous visible tattoos, which include: a blue tribal design on the left side of his neck; the initials "SC" on the back of his neck; the phrase “Ayden 2005” on his right hand; the zodiac sign Scorpio and a star on his ears; the letter M behind his ears; a blue and red band around his left wrist; variouis Asian characters and a coloured circle on his left hand; and Koi fish on his right forearm.

Although known to frequent Barrie and the Greater Toronto Area, Hamelin may attempt to flee to Alberta, the OPP said.
