Update: No risk to public safety near St. Anne School after reports of possible gunshots

Police continue to investigate the incident

Greater Sudbury Police officers are clear of the area near St. Anne School after reports of possible gunshots earlier this afternoon.

Police have confirmed that there is no risk to public safety at this time.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

"We would like to thank the residents in the area for your cooperation, as well as the staff, students and guardians of St. Anne Elementary School," said GSPS in a tweet.

Capreol Road is now open.

Students from St Anne Elementary School have been safely loaded onto buses or picked up by guardians. Officers remain on scene while guardians attend the Day Care. Officers continue to canvass the area.

Greater Sudbury Police are investigating reports of possible gunshots near St. Anne Catholic Elementary School in Hanmer.

“Officers on scene after reports of possible gunshots,” GSPS tweeted. 

Officers are assisting staff and guardians with getting students on buses and into vehicles. 

There is no immediate threat to school. 

Officers have shut down Capreol Road from Cote to MR84.
