Update: Mountain Street now open following weapons scare

Despite report, police says no evidence that incident involving assault with a weapon occured

Update 6:55 p.m.:

Mountain Street has been reopened, police said Monday evening.

"Police received information regarding assault with a weapon at a residential building and it was reported that the party was still present," police tweeted. "All areas checked with no evidence to corroborate the incident occured.

"At this time it is believed that this was a "SWATTING" incident. Anyone with further information relating to this call is asked to contact police. GSPS thanks those impacted during this investigation for their patience."

Greater Sudbury Police are responding to a disturbance on Mountain Street in the Flour Mill neighbourhood.

There is a heavy police presence in the area at this time and officers have closed the road and are asking for members of the public to avoid the area.
