The OPP have named the two people who died after a truck and a minivan crashed on Highway 17 in the Bonfield area at 8:18 a.m. April 23.
The driver of the pickup truck was 20-year-old Matthew Menard of Bonfield. The driver of the minivan was 58-year-old Gilbert Lavoie of North Bay. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed for around six hours for an investigation.
Updated at 3:17 p.m.: North Bay OPP are advising motorists that Highway 17 east of the city has been re-opened following a crash this morning that claimed two lives.
The highway was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash. Police have released very little information on the incident which, tragically, resulted in the deaths of two people.

Updated at 11:31 a.m.: The OPP have confirmed that a crash earlier this morning on Highway 17 in Bonfield, east of North Bay, has claimed two lives.
The death of the two people was confirmed at the scene of the crash. The highway remains closed between Highway 94 and Highway 531, and will likely be closed from some time as police investigate.
The names of the deceased are not being released, pending notification of next of kin.
There is no detour available for tractor trailers. There is a detour for other vehicles.
For eastbound traffic on Hwy 17: Turn right onto Highway 94 to Corbeil Road. From Corbeil Road take a left onto Quae Quae Road. Quae Quae Road makes a sharp right and then turns into Sunnyside Road which goes into Bonfield. Turn left on Mark Street. Mark Street turns into Railway Street. Then make a left turn on Trunk Road and a right onto Highway 531.
For westbound traffic. Turn left onto Highway 531, turn left on Trunk Road, right on Railway Street, keep to the right onto Mark Street. Take a right on Sunnyside Road, left onto Quae Quae Road, right onto Corbeil Road and right onto Highway 94.
