ORIGINAL STORY:

Highway 17 just west of Blind River is closed, the Blind River detachment of the OPP said Saturday, as police investigate a two-vehicle collision.

The accident took place just east of Desbarats late Saturday afternoon, a news release said.

It's not known how long the road will be closed, the release said.

“The OPP will distribute details and updates of the road advisory as information becomes available,” the release said.

The closure comes hours after another section of Highway 17, near Highway 552 west of Sault Ste. Marie, was closed for three hours due to high water levels near the roadway.
