Greater Sudbury Police have provided more information about a Kijiji deal that ended in a robbery.

At around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, a woman received a phone call about jewelry items she had advertised on Kijiji

The would-be buyer arranged to purchase the items at the woman's home.

Minutes later, a woman and man arrived at the seller's Ash Street home.

Once the jewelry was shown to them, they attempted to grab it and flee.

The victim tried to stop the theft from happening, but she was assaulted by both culprits, who then fled on foot. She sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the altercation.

Greater Sudbury Police were contacted and arrived a short time later. Officers attended local businesses in the area to collect video surveillance footage, where the two individuals were caught on camera.

A K9 track was conducted in the area leading to a residence on Eyre Street. Uniform Officers and members of the Break Enter and Robbery Unit knocked on the door of the residence, and the man involved in the incident turned himself over to police. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Police obtained a search warrant for the residence, and once inside, the woman involved in the robbery was located and arrested.

A 30-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been charged with robbery in relation to this incident. They were both held in custody and will attend a bail hearing today, Nov. 8.

“We would to thank the local businesses that provided assistance to our officers,” said a press release.

“We would also like to say thank you and a job well done to our K9 and his handler, as well as, Uniform Patrol Officers and the detectives from the Integrated Crime Team who quickly identified both individuals leading to the arrests and recovery of the stolen items.”
