Knife-wielding assailant near downtown LCBO injures another man

A 22-year-old man has been charged following an assault near the downtown LCBO Sunday, Oct. 13.

According to Greater Sudbury Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn, police were called out to the scene at 2:45 p.m. after an altercation involving two men that bystanders called “a possible assault with what was described as a knife.”

The accused assailant had fled the scene, but after police were provided with a description of the suspect, he was located a short distance away and arrested. 

He has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The second man involved in the incident, also 22 years old, received serious injuries as a result of the altercation, and was transported to hospital by paramedics.
