Updated: Electrical fire damages Reliable Industrial Supply Warehouse

Fire now under control, says fire department

An electrical fire at a Reliable Industrial Supply warehouse in the Walden industrial complex on Mumford Road early Monday morning caused moderate smoke and fire damage.

“The call came in at around 4:30 this morning,” said Platoon Chief Andre Groulx. “Crew responded to that location. Once they got on scene, there's some chemical that they were concerned (about).

“Once the crew got inside, the fire was discovered to be electrical. So the fire was extinguished. But it did make its way through some walls and the roof. They had to open up the roof to extinguish the fire.”

Greater Sudbury Police had put out a press release at 5:30 a.m., advising people to stay away from the area. However, they're now saying the area is open and the fire department has the blaze under control.

About 20 firefighters from four fire stations responded to the fire. Nobody was injured in the incident.

When Sudbury.com visited the scene at around 7:30 a.m., there was still some light smoke coming from the building. Firefighters were spraying water onto the roof, and two large windows at the front of the warehouse were broken.
