A 20-year-old man accused of stabbing another person in Sturgeon Falls Sept. 24 has been arrested.

The Nipissing West OPP say their investigation revealed that around 10:30 p.m. that night, the stabbing victim and another individual were walking on King Street in Sturgeon Falls, when they were approached by another two people.

One of those two people was an acquaintance of the original pair. The conversation became heated and confrontational, and one person was stabbed. The assailant was the person who was unknown to the original pair.

The victim suffered a stab wound to the upper body, and was treated and released from hospital.

The OPP, who had been made aware of the stabbing early on Sept. 25, arrested the accused that afternoon.

The suspect, who is from Sturgeon Falls, was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Nov. 5 in Sturgeon Falls.
