A lost pooch is being reunited with its owners this afternoon after he was picked up by Greater Sudbury Police this morning.

Sudbury police posted a photo of the dog on their social media accounts, accompanied by this explanation.

“While on patrol in the area of College Street this morning, officers came across a very tired dog who had broken off his leash and got away from his owner,” the post said.

“Cst. Bilbija gave the doggo some much needed rest and attention.”

The dog was later picked up by the City of Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter. Police asked the owners of the dog to phone the shelter, if they happened to see the post.

Sudbury.com reached out to City of Greater Sudbury communications to potentially speak to animal shelter staff, and find out more about the dog, in hopes of helping the pooch find its humans.

Happily, that turned out to be unnecessary.

“GSPS officers found this dog in the morning,” said the message from city communications.

“The owner was identified shortly after and will pick the dog up from the Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter this afternoon.”
