Man arrested in connection to trio of robberies at Lasalle convenience stores

The Greater Sudbury Police Break Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.) Unit with assistance from the Tactical Unit arrested a 47-year old man on Lasalle Boulevard shortly before 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, in relation to three robberies. 

The officers then executed a search warrant at a residential building on Lasalle in relation to these investigations.

The three robberies took place at convenience stores (two locations) on Lasalle Boulevard on June 25, Oct. 17 and Nov. 30, 2019. In all three cases the man hid his face, entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money. 

In total he made off with almost $500 and several packages of cigarettes.

None of the employees were injured during their interactions with the man.

A 47-year old man has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Robbery (three counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (three counts)
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (three counts)
  • Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Possession of a Firearm/Weapon Contrary to a Probation Order (three counts)

He attended Bail Court on Friday, Dec. 6 to answer to the charges.
