Man charged for drug impaired driving after running his truck through a ditch

Driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries

On Wednesday April 1 at around 1 p.m. the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single-vehicle collision which occurred on Frood Road at Burton Avenue in the city of Greater Sudbury. 

A grey 2008 Toyota Tundra was travelling northbound when it left the roadway and drove along a deep ditch before being launched back out of the ditch across Burton Avenue. The truck then came to rest in a parking lot on the northeast corner of the intersection. 

The driver of the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at area hospital.
 
The 58-year-old driver was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Impaired Operation (by drug)

The accused was released on an appearance notice to attend a future court date at Sudbury District Court.
 
The Traffic Management Unit would like to appeal to the public for anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed this vehicle around the time of the collision.
