A Chelmsford driver is facing charges after a Sept. 6 crash on Highway 144.

Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police officers were dispatched to the scene that day shortly before 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a two-vehicle crash in the limits of the City of Greater Sudbury.

“None of the occupants had been injured and it was determined that one of the drivers had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was arrested for impaired driving,” police allege. “The driver was then transported to the Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing.”

The 56-year-old driver from Chelmsford is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 18 in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
