After failing to report to the Sudbury Jail last month to serve time for 32 offences — including 11 break and enters — Sudbury man John Nickerson allegedly went on another break-and-enter spree.

Prior to his Aug. 14 sentencing, the 29-year old had been in custody at the Sudbury Jail since April 10, when he was originally arrested.

Since that date, a number of incidents were reported to Greater Sudbury Police.

Just before 2 a.m. on Sept. 12, a man unlawfully entered an establishment on Walnut Street in Greater Sudbury by smashing a window.

When officers arrived on scene, they were informed that the man did not take anything and that he was captured on video surveillance equipment inside of the store.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 20, the same man is believed to have unlawfully entered an establishment on Jean Street in Greater Sudbury by smashing the front door to the building. The man took an undetermined amount of money before leaving on foot before police arrived.

The description provided to officers by individuals in the area at the time matched the description of the man who broke into the other business just days prior.

A little after 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, officers from the GSPS Break and Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R) Unit with assistance from the Intelligence Unit located and arrested the man on Kathleen Street in Greater Sudbury.

He is now charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, break, enter and commit theft and two counts of breach of probation.

Nickerson was held in police custody and attended bail court on Friday, Sept. 21, where he was remanded into custody.

On Sept. 24, an additional arrest warrant was obtained by members of the B.E.A.R. Unit in relation to a break and enter at an establishment on Notre Dame Avenue on Aug. 19, where the 29-year old stole donation boxes supporting individuals fighting leukemia.

Nickerson has been additionally charged with break, enter and commit theft and another count of breach of probation.
