A 33-year-old man has died after crashing his snowmobile into a tree Feb. 20.

Greater Sudbury Police were notified of the collision at around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The man's snowmobile left the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail near Crean Hill Road (this roadway is located off of Hwy. 17, in between Whitefish and Nairn Centre) and struck a tree.

He was the only rider on the machine.

The incident is under investigation by Greater Sudbury Police's traffic management unit.

Police say the man's name will not be released.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the man during this extremely difficult time,” said the press release.
